About the Responsible Labor Initiative

RLI Vision

The rights and dignity of workers vulnerable to forced labor in global supply chains are consistently respected and promoted through responsible recruitment and employment practices.

RLI Mission

Members, suppliers, recruitment partners and stakeholders use their collective influence and application of due diligence to help drive the transformation of recruitment markets and reduce the risk of forced labor in global supply chains.

The Responsible Business Alliance (RBA) has worked to combat forced labor through the application of advanced due diligence standards, programs and tools in the global supply chains of its members. In order to help accelerate change, we have encouraged the harmonization of due diligence across multiple industries that share recruitment supply chains. To catalyze this, the Responsible Labor Initiative (RLI) was launched in 2017.

The RLI is a multi-industry, multi-stakeholder initiative focused on the goal that the rights of workers vulnerable to forced labor in global supply chains will be respected and promoted.

Since its launch in 2017, the RLI has grown to include members from multiple industries, including electronics, automotive, aerospace, jewelry, telecommunications, toys, footwear, apparel, consumer goods, retail, food and beverage, security, and entertainment. In addition, a multi-stakeholder governance structure was established, including a cross-sector steering committee made up of representatives from intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations, academic institutions, investors, etc.
